There aren’t many things in video games that are more eagerly anticipatory as the announcement of Chris Pratt’s Mario. Today at 4:05 pm ET, Nintendo finally revealed the first glimpse of Mario’s new Mario film.

The internet is a little chaotic as it has waited for the Mario movie trailer’s unveiling. When Nintendo published the Livestream link, thousands of people came onto YouTube’s page to wait for the trailer as if they were waiting in line to purchase the latest Nintendo console. Last week, we saw an early glimpse of the trailer for the film, which includes an image of Mario from behind, prompting viewers to comment about Mario’s apparent lack of a backside. As a theresident butt lover, I can give no opinions regarding this, as I was too distracted screaming about Captain Toad!
Andrew Webster was anticipating the trailer’s reveal to be among the most significant sea shifts throughout internet history.
“Life isn’t the same after listening to Pratt’s Mario voice,” he said, as Cameron Faulkner wondered aloud whether Mario would yell.
If Chris Pratt was announced as the voice of Mario, the world expressed a collective “What is this?” It seemed an unfathomable choice, leaving Charles Martinet, who has voiced Mario in the Mario games for many years, on the streets. There were some concerns that Pratt could not fit the role because of his absence of Italian origins and general discontent because it’s widely believed that Chris Pratt, among all four Great Chrises, is by far the most irritating. We only heard a couple of his lines, which were shockingly terrible because he was doing his normal voice! Did you all have to take Charles Martinet out of a job for this? Why, God, why?! The good news is that, at the very least, Jack Black delivered a deliciously violent and enjoyable Bowser, so it’s not entirely horrible. Yikes.
There aren’t a lot of great mysteries around the globe. What was lost as The Library of Alexandria burned? What happened to the skiers on the Dyatlov Pass? What is Chris Pratt sound like as Mario? This question has now been answered, and now there is just one more query to be answered around the globe.
